Pattern: Craftsy – The Senna Tote Bag
I recently went to Bali and the whole idea was to get some surf lessons, while having a tropical beach holiday of course! Unfortunately the week before we went there was an offshore cyclone and the waves ended up being 14ft! Way too big to learn in. However, I still made myself a brand new tote bag to take with me to the beach and poolside.

Material: Cotton Blends
Pattern: Free Craftsy No Guts Boxie Pouch
These bags would have to be my favourite travel, accessory or make-up bags due to the size and shape of them. They fit so much inside without being too large or bulky.
I thought I would start the year off by making something really quick and easy to compliment my Christmas presents. I have been learning to surf so I got a small pack of surf accessories to go with my brand new board. So I decided to make a summer themed pencil case to fit all of my accessories. These pencil cases are perfect for so many occasions, especially for kids going back to school.
I found the pattern from the Craftsy Boxie Pouch but instead of doing the boxed edges I just sewed it straight to make a standard pencil case.
Pattern: Crazy Little Projects Laptop Bag
Description: Created a laptop bag to suit my larger Apple Mac laptop.
Fabric Used: Combed cotton Spoonflower fabric Summer Sky Blue Floral Trellis by Willow Lane Textiles.
I absolutely love Spoonflower fabric and have saved many of their beautiful designs onto my Pinterest Fabric board. You can also see my latest favourites on the Spoonflower website. These fabrics are perfect for smaller home, decor and accessory projects like this one. Plus, they are so simple to create.
After I made my first beach Senna Tote (Craftsy Pattern) I was thrilled and wanted to make it again in this awesome fabric I got from Spoonflower. I always wash my fabric first and noticed that it did fade a tiny bit but it still looks effective.
Echidna Sewing January Project
If you’re interested in a sewalong head over to the Echidna Sewing blog, where they will be featuring a new Charity project each month. This month’s sewalong is dedicated to Aussie Heroes – A blog encouraging people to make quilts and laundry bags for Aussie service men and women currently serving overseas, and to express our gratitude for their service.
The project is to sew a laundry bag themed for men, since that’s what they are currently needing. So, I had a look on Pinterest (as you do) and came up with this design below. It’s almost designed to look like a punching bag!
If you’re looking for a great bag to take to the beach with you this summer, I would highly recommend the Craftsy Senna Tote Bag! I made a test bag using some material I had in my stash but then ended up loving it. However, I still plan on making a new one so I have a a couple of bags to choose from.
My Beach Senna Tote Bag
This size of this bag is perfect to fit your towel, wallet, phone, sunscreen and even your spare clothes! I was also considering going to Cotton On and getting one of those cushion beach pillows.
